Bridal Clutch

As a gift for the four bridesmaid’s that were participating in my wedding, I decided to try my hand at creating a clutch. This was my first major project, and through the course of the work I learned about combining different elements to create something beautiful. These clutches were created by crocheting a large rectangle, attaching a satin lining (sewing it to the crocheted fabric), folding and stitching the sides, and attaching snaps and decorations to the outside. Some of the biggest challenges I had were creating the foundation chain and first couple rows, remembering that pulling through a loop is only  the first step (still need to yarn over and pull through the loops), and keeping the stitches even and not too tight or loose. This last part was especially hard, as I found that my tendency was to start with loose, flexible stitches and end with very tight stitches. This caused the rectangle to look skewed and uneven, despite the fact the stitch count was the same for each row.
